Dataran Shahbandar again Cloud watching
|
|
Beautiful sunset, the cirrus clouds brushing the fiery glow of the sun into the blue of the night. Another beautiful sunset at Dataran Syahbandar.
At end, we ended up at Pantai Batu Buruk.... just in time for a shot of the aquatic centre before the turned off the light for the day during SUKMA .....

Don't say the old lady screamed. Bring her on and let her scream.
Don't tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don't tell them where they know the fish.
Drag your thoughts away from your troubles... by the ears, by the heels, or any other way you can manage it.
Education consists mainly of what we have unlearned.
Everything has its limit - iron ore cannot be educated into gold. |

Internal Audit Workshop
|
|
Where: Terengganu Equestrian Resort
When: June 9-12, 2008
Organizer: Unit Jaminan Kualiti, UDM
Facilitators: En Jafri and Puan Hayati from TOMC. Sdn. Bhd. (Total Organisation Management Consulting (M) Sdn Bhd)
Alhamadulillah, once again, I'm honoured to have been selected to attend yet another workshop this year.
This workshop was organized by Unit Jaminan Kualiti, speaheaded by its' head, Puan Ariza and her crews.
The workshop is organized into two parts. Part 1 was attended by the existing internal auditors as well as the newly appointed internal auditors. Thus, it is aptly called, Siri 1: Pemantapan Audit Dalaman. The second part was attended by higher academics and administrative staff a.k.a. the deans, registrar, treasurer, officer in charge of quality in each department and newly appointed auditors.
Even though the chief minister of Terengganu declared that Tuesday was a public holiday at the SUKMA closing ceremony but we were at the TER clubhouse attending the workshop!
So, now I have a clearer view and understanding of the audit process and ISO9001:2000
Here are some photos captured during the 4 days workshop.

a white man among us

This poem was nominated by UN as the best poem of 2006,
Written by an African Kid
When I born, I black
When I grow up, I black
When I go in Sun, I black
When I scared, I black
When I sick, I black
And when I die, I still black
And you white fellow
When you born, you pink
When you grow up, you white
When you go in sun, you red
When you cold, you blue
When you scared, you yellow
When you sick, you green
And when you die, you gray
And you calling me coloured?
| Quote: | | In teaching the English language, other than grammatical knowledge, awareness of the cultural aspects of the language which include the use of metaphors, similes, idioms, proverbs or famous quotations is tantamount. The boy has shown his understanding of what colour conotes in relationship to human development. |
These 2 photos were captured during the last class meeting last semester where the students were about to fill in the evaluation form.
In most of my class, the students still choose to sit among themselves according to gender and their program of study.
When I first came here to teach, we had separate classes for boys and girls. I found it odd but since the majority of the students are from religious schools, I guess it is the norms for the students.
Now, since the college changed of status from a state religious college to a Fed public university, we have mixed classes. Somehow, the students still seated segregated by gender: boys on one side and girls on another side. It is by nature and not by designed that the students are seated as such.
Muslim mannerism dictates that free mixing among boys and girls be limited. However, boys and girls mix more freely during outdoor activity such as during co-curriculum activities.

We took a walk to the beach on the first morning!
Jr was still in his pyjama.
The ocean was so inviting! not so much waves, cool morning light, ....
The first day shot were mostly of the chalet as we were admiring the place and exploring it. It's like maze where a corridors and pathways were interconnected.
At first, so many places alarm me of possible dangers with Jr roaming around... the pond, the river,...... On the fist day, it wasn't much of a worry since half of the guests there would recognised him as we have more than 100 students and 15 staffs from UDM on location
I really enjoy our stay at the Bukit Kluang Beach Resort. It has been decades since I take a dip in an open water like this.... Even those island trips weren't that inviting ...

Taking a Break
|
|
we were at Bukit kluang Beach resort for 2 nights.
Jr had fun mornings and evenings bathing, learning to swim and splashing on the beach.
Strange though since he went straight into the water when we got there in that morning. He never did that and in in fact he is scared to get near the water at the Pantai Batu Buruk.
Jr has been having fever since we came back. Go figure! he was in the ocean as early as 7 am in the morning....
Since it is school holidays, there are plenty of weddings and since SUKMA XII is here in Terengganu, the traffic jammed is everywhere.

Almost a Disaster
|
|
Alhamdulillah, Allah Ta'ala saved us from a real tragedy.
Jr had hooked the plug to the wall and turn on the power switch. I only discovered it when I was saying takbir for solat about 2am when my eyes fixed on a flickering light in front of me on the ironing board.
I dashed forward and saw that it was the iron and it was facing down.
Thank God, the ironing board cover is of a special heat resistant lining!
The last time I saw Jr loitering around the area was before his bedtime about 9pm. So, the iron had been left on for more than 5 hours.
Silly me! after the incident, I just switched off power and unhooked the iron but left the iron under the ironing board.
Guess what?
When I came home from work around 5:30pm, I discovered that the iron was facing down on the ironing board and there were quite a few of the blocks, Jr favourite toy currently lying around on the board!
Guess what?
Quite a few melted away under the hot iron after more than 10 hours. Apparently, Jr tried to iron his blocks.
I'm really grateful that nothing of a disaster happened. Jr didn't hurt himself, the board or the house wasn't on fire or anything. I'm counting my blessings and forever invoking Allah's protection over me and my beloved family and extend it to all the Muslims in the world and the universes..... ameen!!!!!
A tip from Tok Ibu on how to get rid of hardened plastic on the surface of the iron:
1. Turn the iron on to the highest level to melt the hardened plastic.
2. Iron pieces of banana leaves until all the plastic residue is gone.
and it works!
All I need is a new cover for the ironing board!
Jr still insisting on doing things on his own! even preparing his own milk in a mug!
