A Wedding
|
|
A best friend of mine quited school at 14 to get married, had her first baby girl before 15 and became a grandmother at 33.
Another one who befriended me when I was a kid also got married at 14 and her first baby boy at 15 and became a grandmother at 38.
This friend of mine who is already a grandmother hold a wedding for her only girl.
I always thought that my girl will be married at 16 and she turns 16 at the end of this year....

Out For a Picnic Again !!!
|
|
It began with a quip Tok Ibu made.
"Let's go out tonight!"
Automatically, I could almost feel the soft wind from the South China Sea on my face. So, I replied, "Okay, what time?"
"Let's ask Bat first!" and with a big smile on her face, Tok Ibu heartily said, "a bit of fresh air would be good! I feel very tired. It's been a while since we sent out to 'eat air' - makan angin! Kulli Hawa!
And it was supposed to be a full moon!
| Quote: | Tok Ibu was admitted to Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah on Saturday night due to acute Hemoptysis secondary to bronchiectasis.... batuk keluar darah, paru-paru rosak, ada luka.
I found this on wiki. "Other acquired causes of bronchiectasis involving environmental exposures include respiratory infections, obstructions, inhalation and aspiration of ammonia and other toxic gases"
II suspected that the years she spent working at Tapak Semaian FELDA years ago using pollen and fertilizers where she had to use mouth cover which she did not, could have led to the cause. The other possible cause that came to my mind is different types of medicine that she had inhaled to deal with her asthma.
They did a CT scan on her last night and have been collection sputum culture samples.
During her last hospitalization (about 2 years ago), her sputum culture samples showed no bacterial infection and tuberculosis as the cause was ruled out a few years ago. Now, they are testing her for tuberculosis again.

Jr will turn three soon.
still have a hard time pronouncing 'L' sound... dorry... for lorry...
but he is very perceptive
1. when he sees lil 4 months old Madihah crying, he slowly rub her head and said "baby, don't cry!"
2. after a fumble with a 5 year old Ayesha over a balloon, Ayesha had tears going down her cheeks in buckets but she didn't make any sound at all. I told Jr that Ayesha is upset because he took the balloon from her. His facial expression changes almost immediately. His eyes became sober, feeling guilty I guess, he repeat my words... kak ayesha upset? in a question form and after I answer in affirmative he said 'so-yee' and threw the balloon over to Ayesha. But he did it from far away... I hope he would go over to Ayesha, say sorry and hand the balloon over to her!
3. he excitedly exclaimed "papa! Look what I found!" and his papa's sunglasses is dangling on his right hand. His papa chided ... "No! you did not find it, you took it from the glove box! " and grabbed the sunglasses from him. Startled Jr said "So-lee papa..." and off for another thing!
Jr and soup at dinner.
Jr enjoying his milk after bath
and playing some more!
he disapeared and came back from the kitchen with some papaya!
sticking it to a fork!!!
fed his papa...
and his momma!
How Sweet!

Jr n Crayons n Thomas the Little Engine
|
|
His papa had brought home the iron cast Thomas the little train of Sodor Island and Howard the Helicopter home for sometime.
Thomas got lost for a while and Jr found it under the bed the other day.
I had gotten him a pax of big crayon and he had broken all of them into small pieces and keep em all in a can.
Jr is getting good at picking things up and tidy up after his mess.
After picking all the little pieces of crayon and putting em back into the can, he accidently bumped Thomas the little train into the can and woahlaaa....... It stuck to the can. When he pulled out, somehow he experienced the magnetic pull and was really surprised and enjoyed playing .... stuck em and unstuck em again!

Now what?
|
|
Someone get their feeling hurt!
They get offended by something you did in their presence at the function you held.
What you did would not be construed as offensive.
Would you apologise?
To keep peace in a family, certainly every level headed person with a big heart would.
I'm sorry If I hurt your feeling by what I did. I mean no harm to you or to others. I wish you would not get offended everytime I do it. Carrying keris was a part of the tradition. Keris today is associated with a fighting spirit of my people. I feel offended when I no longer can hold out my keris, kiss it to remind me of the struggle that people must continue for the survival of my people in this land of our forefathers. When I attend a function held by our our other brother, they garland a laurel of flowers around my neck. I mind that! Would they be offended if I just accept the flower garland on both palm of my hand and refused it when they want to put it around my neck? When I attended a function held by your people, do I complaint when you have pork chops or roasted pork adorned in the middle of the table?
Let us take a closer look at this too:
Karpal can call on PAS to drop "to establish a Muslim country" but can we call on Karpal and DAP to drop the 'socialist' agenda?
What's next?
Will Karpal call on the Malays to stop being Malays or stop from practicing Islam as a way of life too?
My premonition:
I'm certain now that down the road, Anwar will regret everything what he said he stood for today. A man with many head and each head has different faces at the front and back. But surely he has only one heart!

Data Analysis and Getting Published Research Worshop
|
|
When: April 18 - 19 , 2008
Day: Friday and Saturday
Where: Rumbia Resort, Paka, Dungun, Terengganu
Facilitators:
1) 1st day - Data Analysis - Prof Dr Mohd Noor - UKM
2) 2nd Day - Prof Dr. Noraihan - CELPAD, IIUM
Some heavy stuff.
Some heavyweights turned it off early on.
I thought we will be exposed to different methodologies in language research. But, it seemed there was some communication get crossed on the way.
At first, this workshop was scheduled at Strawberry Kijal Resort but when a team was sent to survey the place, they recommended against it. The reason cited was the room and the hall and the cafe are a long walking distance away from one another and most (read as those above 50 years old) would have physical problem later.
The feedback questionnaire was absent.
In my opinion, the workshop would be better organised if the faculty could have the questionnaire design (read - question types, testing for validity and realibility) before the exposure to language research methodologies be held.
Perhaps, the next workshop would include both!

Sunset at the Waterfront
|
|
Yesterday, we managed to squeeze in another half hour at the playground by the Waterfront.
The sunset was beautiful ....
and Jr had fun playing on the slide and swing.
Hotel Felda that was constructed with visit Terengganu year 2008 and SUKMA at the end of May 2008 in sight is still under construction. Even the stadiums will not be completed in total but just enough so that the facilities can be used for SUKMA.
We could have stayed a bit longer but Jr pooped in his diaper and we didn't bring extras. Now, at least, he doesn't feel comfortable in soiled diaper. I wonder when would I have time to potty train him properly He lasted for 3 hours without diaper last night though...
Some people were complaining why the Waterfront is named as such since we do have proper name for such a place in Bahasa Melayu. When asked a few years back if the place should be called Tepian Sungai, or Tebing Sungai or Waterfront, without doubt my answer was the Waterfront. Not that I'm not patriotic or give more importance to bahasa orang putih, but by naming the place, 'Waterfront' as such, it help to enrich our people's vocabulary by adding a new word into our conciousness. The reality is we still use the word "Tepi Sungai" to refer to the place but we are also concious that the place is also called the Waterfront which means Tepi Air
That's off-course is the reasoning of a language lecturer who happen to teach English language!
